A for-and-against Essay

Good evening, my dear! Are you waiting for Happy New Year and Christmas? Have you already bought decorations for your holiday tree? Do you know what desire you will make on New Year’s Eve?
I’ve just read a real amazing article «Experience: my Christmas tree is 80 years old» written by Steve Rose (https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/dec/21/my-christmas-tree-is-80-years-old). It is devoted to a man whose celebration of Christmas was very different during his life. The article is so touching and sincere. He tells us about his parents and his childhood. The man also memorializes in his interview: «Before we got lights in the 1950s, we put candles on it [he means a Christmas tree], but they were never lit. Mother said it was far too dangerous».
There was an artificial holiday tree in his family. And such a tree was a bit of a local celebrity and the all neighbours and villagers came to them to see it with their own eyes. Now he is seventy-four years old, and he still has this tree, but he doesn’t use it for its intended purpose. He cherishes, because it reminds him about the past years. This article has become for me a real food for my brain. So, it prompted me to speculate on such vital topics as, for example: «What Christmas tree is better: artificial or alive? ». And I structured some opinions in a for-and-against essay.
………………………………………………………………
Nowadays, some people prefer artificial Christmas trees to live ones. But the others consider thinking a live tree is a traditional reality of the Holiday. Which one is better for our family’s health and is cheaper to buy? Let’s have some discussion on this theme.
A lot of people believe that they keep trees alive buying their artificial copies. They stop cutting them for every-year Holiday, and just put it out of the box which is stored on their balcony during the whole year. But, most of New Year's trees all over the world come from China - they are grown on special Christmas tree farms precisely in order to cut down and sell for the New Year, while the ancient forests do not suffer.
On the one hand, artificial tree doesn’t demand daily cleaning in the room where it stands, because its needles don’t fall on the floor. But on the other hand, such a tree doesn’t smell. The smell of pine/spruce needles and stick gum make the festive atmosphere, especially if it is intertwined with mandarin and chocolate flavor.
To sums up, modern people are increasingly putting artificial trees in their homes, trying to cause as little harm to the environment as possible - they think that in this way they save one tree each year. But, contrary to popular belief, not all artificial trees are good for our health. We should be more careful when we choose a Christmas tree. As for my family, we have a big Christmas tree whose top rests against the ceiling. Although, my parents always fetch several live branches from forest to make some charming flavour at home. And we deliver some of them to our grandmothers, because the holiday should be in every home of our relatives.
